on your wing
Northern Wings began in 2001, with only two employees in a farm field pole barn located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The company was incorporated as Northern Wings Repair (NWR), an FAA certificated Repair Station specializing in the repair and overhaul of aircraft brakes and landing gear components, with operations including welding, machining, and non-destructive testing. After sustaining uninterrupted growth, NWR moved in 2007 to a modern purpose built 13,000 square foot facility, allowing for increased manufacturing, repair, and warehouse capacity.
Continuing to enhance capabilities, we grew to become an AS9100 certified aerospace manufacturer and stocking distributor. We provide certified materials and parts for commercial and military aircraft programs serving customers such as NASA, Boeing Aerospace, DLA, L-3 Technologies, Sierra Nevada Corporation, the U.S Park Service, the Department of Homeland Security and others.

at your service
As years passed, aircraft brake composition evolved rendering welding repair techniques obsolete, and as the market shifted, NWR closed its Repair Station division in 2016 to focus on expanding our defense and aerospace business. In 2017, NWR became Northern Wings, a streamlining of our original name that, though keeping us connected to our roots, reflects the continuing modernization that we undergo to ensure we are keeping pace with the latest trends and requirements of the aerospace market.

complete support solutions
Utilizing the same management and planning skills employed throughout our aerospace support operations, NWR developed a Construction/Project Management division that has continued to gain traction throughout the Midwest. As a Prime Contractor, NWR has established teaming arrangements to blend in-house talent and abilities with other experienced and highly qualified small businesses, allowing us to successfully accomplish a diverse series of contracts, and have helped keep critical jobs and contracting dollars in the regional community.

World Class Business Practices
Northern Wings has received two National SBA awards since 2012, the most recent being the 2016 Region V SBA Subcontractor of the Year, along with numerous customer honored accolades such as the L3-Technologies 2016 Small Business Subcontractor of the Year. We are a Native American owned, SBA Small Disadvantaged, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business that is also HUBZone Certified. Northern Wings was certified into the SBA 8(a) program in 2007 and graduated in 2017.
